Elliot Page Joins Dominic Savage’s New Film Close to You

Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page has been captivating audiences with his performances for the past decade and change, and recently opened up about his tumultuous relationship with Hollywood during all that time in his new memoir Pageboy. Setting out to define his career as he wishes now, another big project has just hit his docket. Per a report from Deadline, he is set to star in the newest upcoming indie film from Dominic Savage titled Close To You, which is currently winding down production in Page’s native Canada.

Close to You is a heartfelt family drama feature helmed by the award-winning Dominic Savage, who has previously worked on a number of British dramas including the series ‘I Am…’ (2019) as well as The Escape (2017). He serves as both director and co-writer of the script alongside its lead star Elliot Page, who both are also co-producing the project with Krishnendu Majumdar and Richard Yee. While other cast have yet to be announced for the film, both Elliot Page (The Umbrella Academy) and Hillary Baack (Sound of Metal) are confirmed as co-stars. Baack is a well-rounded actor, writer and producer herself who has appeared in other series like the AppleTV+ anthology Little America (2020) and Switched at Birth (2014), along with features like The East (2013). Meanwhile Page, who was nominated for an Oscar for a breakout performance in 2007’s Juno, can be seen in the most recent season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy.
While few specifics have been revealed about the plot of the film, the story so far will follow Sam (Page) who has a chance encounter with an old friend (Baack) while on his way home to a family reunion that he’s very reluctant to attend. While there, he’s forced to confront some previously buried memories.

Elliot Page expressed his gratitude for having been part of Savage’s Close to You, praising both him and Hillary Baack for the unforgettable experience.
Savage shared his commendations as well for working with Page on such a “personal” film for both of them.
